Lúcio Vieira, born in Mindelo, São Vicente, Cape Verde, showed a talent for music from an early age. Surrounded by great musicians such as Vasco Martins, Maiúca, Vlú, he was strongly influenced by jazz, by the fusion with traditional music and, together with other artists who shared bold ideas for the time, founded the first festival in Cape Verde,
Festival Baía das Gatas. An extremely versatile musician, multi-instrumentalist,
piano, bass and viola, he brings in his cultural baggage the emblematic
inspiration of Luis Morais, a great musician from Cape Verde, with whom he trained and also participated in some performances. He began playing in the
1980s, in Portugal, with great names in the traditional music scene, such as:
Cesária Évora, Tito Paris, Paulino Vieira, Dany Silva, Valdemar Bastos, Paulo
Flores, Justino Delgado, among many other artists from Guinea and Mozambique. He was a member of the soul music project Sara Tavares and also worked on projects in other styles of music such as RB with (Melo D and General D) Funky Messenger, Rock, House, POP jazz and alternative music.

His enormous ability to blend in ndcreate in different musical contexts led him to join Sétima Legião, having
worked with Rodrigo Leão, Jorge Fernando, Rui Veloso, Paulo de Carvalho, and
others in the area of Portuguese music. He participated in the Sons da
Lusofonia project, directed by the great jazz saxophonist Carlos Martins, which
promotes the intercultural crossover of Lisbon communities. One of the highlights of his career was sharing the stage with one of the creators of World music, Peter Gabriel, at the invitation of this event. At the invitation of Cesária Évora's great agent, José da Silva, he was invited to work with a
Cape Verdean artist, Tcheka. During his career in World Music, he worked with names such as Cesária Évora, Dino de Santiago, Lura, Elida Almeida and Nancy
Vieira. In Brazil, he worked with great names such as Carlinhos Brown, at the Baia percussion festival, where bridges of multiculturalism were created. He
has participated several times in the AME Festival (Atlantic Music Expo), with artists such as Isabel Novella among others. In 2009, he participated in the first Kriol Jazz Festival, created by José da Silva, in Cape Verde, as part of the project of the musician Tcheka, the first singer to take the stage.
In 2020, at the invitation of producer Francisco Sousa, he joined the musical project Bandé-Gamboa, an approach to creolization, as musical director of Cape Verde, seeking to create something new, starting from the roots, honoring the past with an eye to the future. The album received excellent national and international reviews for the authentic and innovative way in which sounds from Guinea and Cape Verde were mixed, in a rhythm that takes to the dance floor. A musician gifted with great sensitivity, he likes to share knowledge, especially with the new generation of artists. In this context, he is working together with producer Markus Leukel, on an original project as co-producer of Cape Verdean artist Claúdia Sofia, the new promise of Cape Verdean music. He has been invited numerous times as bassist, composer and musical director for the Sete Sois Sete Luas festival, a highly relevant international project that aims to bring together musicians of various nationalities and artistic styles. In addition to his work as a musician and composer, he has been producing several national and international artists. He currently participates in projects with major musicians and DJs in the United Kingdom, in styles ranging from Afro Beat, Afro House and R&B. He has also participated in projects with the great musician and producer Theo Pascal, exploring a creative fusion of Afro jazz. He has recently been preparing the launch of his solo project, which will feature the participation of some artists he has worked with and admires, where the uniqueness of his compositions will be present, in arrangements and harmonies that elevate his way of seeing music, always at the forefront of sound, in the creation of musical contexts that spontaneously arise from his life path, recreated in his songs, where sound is in close communication with image..
