Music has always been an important part of my life. A few years ago, I realized that I was always up to date with the latest news and releases in this field. That's when I decided to share the information not only with my friends, but also with the public.
Cláudia Sofia November 13, 1994 | São Vicente / Mindelo - Cape Verde. At home, the record player played a lot of morna, coladeira, funaná, batuco and mazurca. We listened to Boney M, Aretha Franklin, Malagueña, Abba, Amália Rodrigues, Dulce Pontes, Roberto Carlos, Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Beatles, Elton John, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Rolling Stones, Scorpion... At her father's house, classical music took up more space, with Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, André Rieu, Mozart, Bach, Katherine Jenkins...
Emma Shapplin, Yanni "Niki Nana"... The influence of her country, of traditional Cape Verdean music in the voices of Cesária Évora, Bana, Beleza and Manel D'Novas among many others, was always present, international references mixed in and gave shape and color to her evolution in music. "Ná mininu ná" by Eugénio Tavares was the song that revealed her vocal talent and led her to the stage for the first time at the age of four. The "Praça Nova" music school was the place she chose to spend her free time between the ages of five and ten. Under the guidance of Nana Tabagari, a georgian music teacher, she grew up, learned and built her singing foundations. She first left the country at the age of seven to take part in the 2002 Chaminés de Ouro competition in Portimão, Portugal. In São Vicente, at the age of twelve, she won the competition for young singers and in 2006 she returned to the Chaminés de Ouro and took third place.
At the age of 10, she received a pink guitar from her father. At the age of 13, she took it seriously and made it her greatest hobby. In 2012, she made the leap into fashion, through the Elite Model Look competition, which took her to Portugal Fashion Week in 2013. She returned to São Vicente and, from 2015 onwards, while studying, she decided to focus seriously on music and began singing in several bars and restaurants in the city of Mindelo. It was in 2018, at the age of 23, that she took the step into a more professional dimension and devoted herself with focus and determination to exploring the potential of the guitar. Being on stage brought her the need to bring various musical genres to life and led her to learn to play cajon and pandeiro.
She participated and sang in a documentary about Cesária Évora "Sur les traces de Cesaria Evora" by Arte.tv. She has a scheduled place every week at the Hotel Foya Branca, Hotel Pombas Brancas and Hotel Porto Grande. Bars/restaurants such as Nautilus Club, Ot Level, Livraria Nho Djunga... In 2022 she participated in the Brazilian radio station "Chá Da Vida" as a Poet where she presented some of her work, the poem "Quem Sou Eu". In the following year, 2023, she took a step forward to record 6 of her own songs, through which she recorded and released her first video clip entitled "Monte Cara". In 2024, with the help of sponsorships, she returned to the studio to record 4 more songs and she released her second video clip with the name entitled "Darlina." In the same year, Claudia Sofia also made her first tour to Europe with 21 concerts in Germany, Austria and Portugal. 2024 was a year of many achievements, and upon returning home, Cláudia Sofia took part in the event that took place at the Presidential House for the "Djunto" Event of the "Dretu Foundation", in Praia. In 2025, at the beginning of January, she created a song at the request of the World Bank "WorldBankGroup", where she presented this song entitled "Biodiversity" in Praia at the "Country climate development report" event. Mindelo is the home where she lives and shows her art.
